Distilled from a base of full on analog and digital heterodyne, designed specifically for aural application…
Transmuting Currents is shipping. This debut 9-song cd by ambient electronic artist John Vorus features a magnetic blend of electro-acoustic atmospheres, evolving beatscapes, odd metered didgeridoo rhythms, and signal processing based in numerology. This is all boiled down into delicately simmering aquatic atmosphere, slowly blooming in waves from track to track.
The mixing and co-production was performed by critically acclaimed and internationally recognized Ambient artist Steve Roach in his Tucson based Timeroom studio. The mixes took place during an intensive, 5-day marathon session in 2005. Tools utilized during the Timeroom session include a modified Soundcraft Series 6000 console, a 138 module, 32 rack space modular synth (including many 1 off modules specially built for Steve’s set up), as well as a bizarre device called the ‘heimholtz resonator’.
The disc is packaged in a unique, custom made die cut fiber board CD wallet with slip case, printed using a special 6 color process and presented under a deep matte finish with UV spot gloss detailing. Each CD comes packaged in a resealable collector’s sleeve, and a free sticker is included with the disc. See the music page for packaging images and session photos. Special thanks to Steve for his friendship and guidance on this project
